Overall, I feel good about the run. Legs felt springy as I started the day, but that could have been simply compared to what they had been feeling after the change in my training the last couple of weeks. I was putting forth a lot of effort in mile 5 to have fallen to 5:34, and that hill coming back into downtown was killer and helped result in the 5:38 closing mile. However, I'll have to look back, but the 62-second final .2 might be the fastest I've done in a 10k.
All in all, I feel good with the effort, wanted a better time, I know I'm more fit than this, but I'm happy with how I ran. Short-term goal race is a half-marathon 5 weeks out right now, so I'm not too concerned... as a matter of fact, very much enthused about this time. I plan to run another race or two in the next weeks as a 2nd workout in the week, but we'll see how it all plays out.
